The Maastricht Cellebroederskapel - Cell Brothers Chapel - was built in the first quarter of the 16th century by Cell Brothers. They had earned respect by taking care of those with contagious diseases and retarded people. After the convent was abolished in 1796 the convent buildings were used as a prison, brewery and pawn broker. After its abolishment the chapel and the remainder of the convent came into the possession of the Congregation of the brothers of the Beyart. They restored the chapel in 1963.
