Formerly, this building was the second Franciscan Convent in Maastricht, informally named the Mount of the Lesser Friars - Minderbroedersberg. Building started in 1700 and was concluded in 1708. After the French era the buildings served as prison, with the court housed in the former church. Since 1995 it has been the administrative seat of Maastricht University.
