From the first half of the 13th century until the year 1867, Maastricht and Wyck were surrounded by a belt of fortifications. The only way in or out of the city was through city gates that were guarded, where you were checked and locked at night.
This activity begins with a short lecture, followed by a walk to some of the places where Maastricht's city gates used to be.
