Did you know that the Maasland curly gables were introduced by the famous Dutch architect Vredeman de Vries; that Dutch stepped gables appeared in the Maastricht streetscape after the capture of the city by Frederick Henry in 1632; that the town hall on the Markt is considered a textbook example of Dutch Classicism; and that the (former) post office on the Vrijthof was not only designed by the then Chief Government Architect, but was also built by Dutch contractors using Dutch materials?

In this guided tour, building historian Coen Eggen will take you on a walk through the city and discover which influences from the former Holland have left their mark on Maastricht architecture.
